Qatar Airways, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, continues its partnership as the official Airline Partner to the Hellenic Match Racing Tour through 2016.

The continuation builds on a successful launch year of the partnership in 2015, as Jason Georgaris, Chief Executive Officer commented, “We are proud to have developed tremendous partnerships with our sponsors, and are particularly pleased to welcome Qatar Airways back on board for the second year as Official Airline Partner of Hellenic Match Racing Tour. Renewing partnerships is certainly the best indicator of success. We are delighted to once again offer Qatar Airways a range of commercial and branding rights across the Tour and achieve maximum exposure for their brand.”

The Hellenic Match Racing Tour (HMRT) features eight world class teams pitched against each other in a one-on-one duel of match racing strategy and tactics. 2016 marks the third consecutive year of HMRT tour, which attracts Greece’s best sailors to race alongside international names in some of the nation’s most unique and stunning venues. As the only professional tour in Greece, the three-stage HMRT generates a massive media interest and fan base.

The 2016 season features three beautiful destinations in the Aegean Sea, kicking off on 13-15 May at the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club, just south of Athens. After a successful debut hosting in 2015, HMRT makes a welcome return to the marina at Vouliagmeni, with racing just off the shore. The Tour then heads south to the stunning island of Paros in the heart of the Cyclades from 27-29 May. Paros attracts sailors from all over the world to enjoy its perfect wind conditions and pristine white beaches, with the match racing course set in the Bay of Parikia. The Grand Final will see the fleet return to Athens and the impressive Yacht Club of Greece venue in Mikrolimano from 1-2 October. The elevated location of the Yacht Club of Greece creates a natural amphitheatre from which to witness the racing unfold on the waters below.

Greece’s best sailors, counting numerous international titles and Olympic appearances between them, will race in the fast and tactical Platu 25 keelboats.
