After a successful debut season in 2014, the Hellenic Match Racing Tour returns for the third consecutive year with an international line-up of sailors set to provide another series of thrilling racing for sailing fans.
Eight world class teams, representing the crème de la crème of the sailing world, are set to compete in a series of Match Races against the backdrop of three stunning locations; Vouliagmeni in Athens, Paros in Cyclades and Mikrolimano in Piraeus.
Τhe opening match of the 2016 Hellenic Match Racing Tour on Platu 25 keelboats kicks off on May 13, 2016 for three days of racing at the Nautical Club of Vouliagmeni. The second leg will see the fleet descend on the beautiful bay of Paroikia, the capital of Paros Island (Cyclades) from May 27, 2016 to May 29, 2016. The final race of the 2016 season will take place at the stunning harbour of Mikrolimano, a natural racing arena in Piraeus, Athens from October 1, 2016 to October 2, 2016.
Match racing is an intense and aggressive boat on boat style of racing. Quick decision making combined with superb teamwork and strategy reward the best and make match racing thrilling to watch. Racing close to shore puts spectators at the heart of the action in some of Greece’s most spectacular locations.
The 2016 Hellenic Match Racing Tour is organised by Icarus Sailing Media. It is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism and it is supported by the Greek National Tourism Organisation.
